The Panerai watch model produced in 1936 for the first Submersible is back again. The initial timepiece marked the appearance of a wristwatch manufacture under the Panerai name. It was developed in September 1935 by the request of the Royal Italian Navy that required a luminous underwater diver’s watch.

The development of the watch became a turning point for Officine Panerai, which had continuously specialized in manufacturing of an impressive series of instruments with distinguished technical features:

  • mechanical calculators for torpedo-launches,
  • self-luminous devices for night gunnery,
  • underwater compasses,
  • mechanical depth gauges.

All the instruments listed above were characterized by the highest quality and were developed to guarantee maximum reliability and accuracy during the missions performed by the Royal Italian Navy. The same constructional principles were used while developing Officine Panerai watches.

Tourbillon Diamants - Another World First

Founded in 1735, Blancpain has introduced a great number of world firsts. The new Blancpain Tourbillon Diamants, created in the spirit of constant innovation, is adorned with exclusive ‘baguette’ setting.

Unique Setting

The timepiece is highlighted by 480 diamonds with a total carat weight of 58. Cutting-edge techniques have been applied to clothe a full-set case middle, bezel, dial, lugs and bracelet. The setting of the baguette-cut diamonds is really complicated as for the arrangement and the specific size of every stone. The classic round shape of the Tourbillon Diamants made the task even more difficult - each diamond is accurately adjusted to fit perfectly within the whole construction.

TAG Heuer required more than four years to develop, patent, and manufacture the recently introduced Calibre S movement. The latest movement of the brand was initially presented at BaselWorld 2007. The unique characteristics of the new Link Calibre S surprised the entire world of horology.

The innovative Link Calibre S belongs to a new generation of electro-mechanical movements, also called ‘hybrid’, implying neither quartz nor automatic mechanisms. These are the successful union of mechanical sophistication and quartz precision.

The Link Calibre S comprises 230 complex mechanical components and five bi-directional micro-engines, mechanically independent yet synchronized. The innovative movement is of far more complicated nature than a common quartz movement comprising 30-40 component. Simply speaking, the Calibre S represents a mechanical movement providing the precision of quartz.

The Link Calibre S shows the time of hours, minutes and seconds. By pressing the crown, the chronograph function is switched on. The same central hands reverting to zero are used for starting and stopping the timing by pressing the chronograph pushbuttons positioned traditionally at 2 and 4 o’clock.
